The Best Care For Your Children

The earlier children get their regular dental checkups, the better chance they will have of maintaining a healthy mouth throughout their lives. Early examinations prevent cavities and tooth damage that can lead to headaches, trouble concentrating, and other problems. Healthy teeth allow children to chew easily, speak clearly, and smile confidently.

The American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics advise that every child visit a dentist no later than age 1. This “well-baby appointment” teaches parents how to maintain healthy teeth and helps them avoid cavities.

A pediatric dentist may see young patients who have cavities from drinking too much juice or milk. The dentist may inform the parent or caregiver:

  • How does this cause decay?
  • It is vital to encourage children to drink milk, water, and juice from a mug as they approach their first birthday
  • How to brush your baby or child’s teeth.

Pediatric Dentists recommend that mothers stop nursing at night after their baby has had his or her first teeth.

Tooth decay, the most common chronic condition among children in the United States, is the leading cause of death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 40% of children develop tooth decay by the time they turn five years old. All children receive expert, gentle care from the Pediatric Dental Studio.
